Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine Sullivan is a native of and brought up within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam was once a backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years old, her father was offered in the role of curator for Philadelphia's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. The year 2005 marks her Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts graduate She is an instructor in singing. Sullivan started singing in the school's chorus as a contralto after which she was a part of the adult choir only a few years after that. The exposure Sullivan had to secular music was initially limited "I did solos in church and someone wanted me to join an evangelical label when I was eleven but I wasn't yet ready," she recalls. Then, McDonald's held a contest with children from large cities. I was allowed to sing "Accept the Grace of God" during the show Showtime at the Apollo. And the crowd responded very well. Stevie Wonder sang her part for the birthday party of her son at the age of 13. Sullivan began her contract with Jive Records at the age 15. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records when she was fifteen. The singer-songwriter produced an entire album. However, this album was never released. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. The singer maintained a relationship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded several tracks from her debut, like the viral single "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and composed by Elliott.
